Avalanche vs Canucks Picks, Predictions, and Odds Tonight

Colorado is 0-2 against Vancouver this season, but is a three-game winner in a row and should be able to get the most out of a struggling Canucks team on Friday night. Read why in our Avalanche vs Canucks betting picks.

The Colorado Avalanche and the Vancouver Canucks face off at Rogers Arena on Friday night.

It’s the third and final meeting of the regular season, and Colorado might be relieved for that. Vancouver won the first meeting in Denver by a score of 4-3 on November 23, and the Canucks won the previous meeting at home by a count of 4-2 earlier this month.

The Canucks haven’t had much success since, however, as Vancouver enters that tilt with just two wins in its previous 10 games. Meanwhile, the Avalanche have warmed up a bit by winning three games in a row.

Can the Canucks maintain their grip on the defending champions, or will the Avalanche finally enter the win column against Vancouver? We’ll discuss that in our free NHL picks and predictions for Avalanche vs Canucks on January 20.

Best Avalanche vs Canucks Odds Picks and Predictions Avalanche vs Canucks

It’s a little hard to believe, but Colorado will be looking to tie a season-high in consecutive streaks with just four wins on Friday night.

Facing the Canucks will be a surprisingly tough challenge, as Colorado has yet to find the combination to solve Vancouver this season in two previous meetings.

The Avalanche have been surprisingly toothless on offense this season, posting lackluster power play numbers at a 24.0 percent conversion rate. At even strength, Colorado has averaged just 3.0 goals per game, which ranks 22nd in the league.

Lately, his goal production has improved considerably, producing an average of 5.7 goals per game in his last three games.

The Canucks toppled the Avalanche on Jan. 5 by doubling the defending champions at home, but are only 1-5 since that victory.

Vancouver seems to play better against high-level teams, but its defense and goaltenders have been atrocious all season. Despite the Canucks’ dominance in this series lately, I still support the Avalanche as moderate favorites in the regular season finale between the two teams.

Avalanche vs. Canucks moneyline analysis

The Avalanche have won the last three outings by a combined score of 17-4, covering the puck line twice as the favorite in the period while winning outright as the underdog the last time in Calgary.

In fact, during the impressive three-game winning streak, Colorado won by at least three goals with an average winning margin of 4.33 goals per game. This is great news for potential bettors on the puck line, and you’ll get a solid price based on Colorado’s previous failures against Vancouver.

Vancouver is just 1-5 in its previous six games against Central Division opponents and 1-4 in its last five against teams with a winning record. With the Avalanche playing well and the Canucks collapsing, a play on the puck line with -1.5 (+144 at FanDuel) is warranted.

Also consider rolling the dice on the alternate puck line down to -2.5, especially since Colorado has won its last three games by at least three goals each time.

Avalanche vs. Canucks Over/Under Analysis

Colorado has cashed in on the Unders at a 20-9-2 pace over the last 31 total games, but a lot of those Unders have come down to poor offensive performance. There’s pause for worry about the Avalanche’s offensive surge lately, but the under bets are still 3-0-1 in their last four road games and 4-0 -1 in their last five against Western Conference opponents.

And while the Canucks have beaten the Over at a 3-0-3 pace in the last six home skates, the Under are 4-1-2 in the last seven tries against Central Division teams.

Vancouver is still a dangerous team to play when considering an Under. The Canucks have been surprisingly efficient on offense, scoring 3.4 goals per game (No. 8 in the NHL) while allowing an average of 3.9, which ranks second.

To make matters worse for the Canucks, they have the worst penalty kill in the league (66.7%), which is great news for Colorado bettors. The best course of action is to avoid a total play and bet more on Colorado to win this one, either directly or on the puck line.
