Dungeons & Dragons Announces New Heist-Themed Anthology

Today, Dungeons & Dragons, a subsidiary of Wizards of the Coast, announced the next book in its quarterly publishing schedule: a heist-themed adventure anthology titled Keys From the Golden Vault. The book has been in production for years, and while its release date is sadly close to the controversy surrounding D&D’s updated open gaming license, it’s no surprise the company is moving forward with the release. publication.

The book will contain 13 adventures focusing on theft, burglary, and general item recovery. There will be adventures designed for characters up to level 11, and they can be played in sequence or as one-shots. This follows a recent run of Dungeons & Dragons anthology adventures, including last year’s Candlekeep Mysteries and Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel. It will include maps and pointers for everyone

In this book, the underground Golden Vault is a top-secret thieves’ guild that specializes in building crews for any heist, big or small. The game is set up to be world independent and can be in any D&D environment or homebrew world. Adventurers will “emphasize player choice” in the format and offer multiple ways to succeed.

The timing for this kind of book is pretty dire, given that the fate of the open play license is still up in the air, and there has been no further communication from Wizards of the Coast since it proposed OGL 1.2 for community feedback last Thursday. Either way, the machine must be running.

Keys From the Golden Vault will be released on February 21; it is currently available for pre-order.
