It hasn’t even been two months since Argentina won the World Cup in Qatar. However, teams have started aiming for the next edition of the tournament. Two of these teams are the United States and Mexico. Many football teams change their roaster, especially their managers to bring new and fresh ideas to the table. The USMNT and the Mexican soccer team are in the same phase. Mexico suffered a disappointing run in Qatar while USMNT had a decent run. Both teams bring new bosses to the team to prepare them for the tournament. These teams specifically had more pressure as they are the host country of the tournament along with Canada.

While Mexico failed to advance to the round of 16 of the tournament, USMNT put on a strong showing in the group stage. The team won 1-0 against Iran and stopped the English side with a goalless draw. Although the team suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the round of 16, the fans were surprised by the qualification to the next round. Fans expect a lot from these two teams in the upcoming edition, but a USMNT legend has harsh words for both.

The American legend criticized the Mexican football federation
The harsh words for the Mexican Football Federation came from legendary USMNT defender Alexi Lalas. He was talking on his podcast about how Mexico lost the chance to sign Marcelo Bielsa as their new head coach. The team instead chose between Miguel Herrera and Guillermo Almada. He compared both the United States Soccer Federation and its Mexican counterpart.

Lalas in his podcast said: “The fact that Bielsa is not the coach of New Mexico is interesting because he is a big name. And he is someone who I think would attract attention, and they know him for his history with Mexican soccer. I think the Mexican soccer community and their fans, when all is said and done, will think how they ended up with Almada or Herrera when they could have had Bielsa. me to put that to rest. Whatever dysfunction you can pin down on the US soccer federation, believe me, it’s 10 times worse when it comes to the Mexican federation.
