Kyle Larson Reveals the Aspect of Indy 500 That Worries Him the Most Compared to NASCAR

The Daytona 500 race begins in a few weeks and the NASCAR family can’t wait to witness it. Among other updates, NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson appeared on The Race IndyCar Podcast this week for an exclusive interview. This came after it was announced that he will compete in the Indy 500 with McLaren in 2024.

Kyle Larson is one of the drivers with extensive driving experience on different tracks. He is someone who understands machines and has the ability to learn and adapt to things quickly. Even though he possesses these qualities, it looks like he will face new challenges with the Indy 500 car as well as racing.

Kyle Larson’s take on the challenges he might face

Although he’s a natural when it comes to adapting to new things and his racing skills, the Hendrick Motorsports star has shed light on the challenges he might face. During The Race IndyCar podcast interview, he said he found the late dirt model new and very different from all his previous experiences driving other cars.

Larson said: “I can ride at an average level, but if I really want to go out there and be one of the best, then like the little things, that’s the hardest part. Trying to figure out, there’s the dynamics and the way a car reacts in traffic and just like the detail, which I’m sure would be somewhere when I get into an Indy car.

“Hopefully the part of driving by myself would be easy, not easy but natural where I could just focus on the traffic, cockpit setup and pit stops, and the racing details that I don’t know. not.”

Kyle Larson on his plans to meet the challenges

Although he has a go-getter attitude towards learning new things, the Indy car challenge he would face will require a lot of hard work on his part. From what he understands, this will require him to do a lot of homework. He even mentioned that in previous races he would try to figure it all out on his own.

As for the Indy 500, he said, “So there’s definitely a lot of work to be done. I’ve studied a lot of all the types of cars I drive, watched a lot of videos. I’m sure with Indy cars I’ll talk more to other drivers and teammates that I have to lean on, compared to when I’m racing with other cars.

It sure looks like Kyle Larson has ambitions beyond NASCAR. Connecting the dots to his childhood days when his father was a huge Indy500 fan, he feels he will fulfill his father’s dream as well.
