John Legend explains his, Chrissy Teigen’s daughter Esti’s name

The name of Esti, the 2-week-old daughter of John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, honors several family members.
The EGOT winner admitted to E! News Wednesday that the tribute was not “intentional.”
“Once Chrissy told me this idea, I was like, ‘Oh, my great-grandmother’s name was Esther,'” Legend explained.
“We already wanted to name her middle name Maxine after my grandmother, whose middle name was Maxine,” he continued.
“So there’s a lot of my family in the name.”
The “All of Me” singer, 44, and Teigen, 37, revealed the name of their baby girl earlier this month, nearly a week after the model gave birth.

“We have welcomed Esti Maxine Stephens into our family, and our home is overflowing with love and joy,” Legend captioned a Jan. 19 Instagram photo of daughter Luna, 6, and son Miles. 4 years old, holding the baby.
He then thanked his wife for her “strength and resilience”.

The ‘Voice’ coach concluded, “I’m so thrilled to see how Luna and Miles embrace their little sister. I’m so, so grateful, but that doesn’t seem like a big enough word.
Teigen shared the same sweet snap on her own account.
“The house is bustling and our family couldn’t be happier,” she wrote. “We are in happiness.”
The couple, who married in 2013, conceived Esti through in vitro fertilization nearly two years after Teigen lost her son Jack at 20 weeks pregnant in 2020.

The ‘Cravings’ cookbook author clarified in September 2022 that her pregnancy loss was actually a “life-saving abortion”.
Teigen told E! News in 2017 that she always wanted the “bigger family,” which Legend echoed on “Entertainment Tonight” five years later.
“Chrissy…wants more,” he said in September 2022. “I’m one of the four, so I’m okay with that.”
