Satkowski Named NEC Scholar-Athlete Award Recipient

NEC Announces Fall Scholars Athlete Awards

EASTON, Mass. (February 1, 2023) – Stonehill College senior offensive lineman David Satkowski has been named the recipient of the Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete Award in Football, making College history the first to earning this recognition in the College’s inaugural year at the NCAA Division I Level.

Satkowski, a first-team All-NEC selection this fall for Stonehill, adds NEC Scholar-Athlete honors to a comprehensive list of academic honors after being named a William V. Campbell Trophy® semi-finalist by the National Football Foundation , in addition to being named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® team for the first time. The double major in Secondary Education and History earned a 3.80 GPA at Stonehill, having been awarded the Presidential Merit Scholarship and named to the Dean’s List for six semesters. In addition to his NEC Scholar-Athlete Award recognition, Satkowski was also named to the NEC Commissioner’s Honor Roll (3.75+ cumulative GPA) and the NEC Academic Honor Roll (3.20+ GPA) .

Satkowski has already been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Academic Honor Roll six semesters, with Academic Distinction Status four semesters for having a GPA between 3.50 and 3.99 and Academic Excellence Status once for have a perfect GPA of 4.0 semester. He was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll every seven semesters for having a GPA of 3.20 or higher.

Satkowski started all 19 games at right tackle for Stonehill this fall, setting up an offensive line that blocked the No. 2-ranked offense in the NEC behind conference champion and playoff-seeking FCS Saint Francis (Pennsylvania) University. Stonehill led the NEC in rushing offense (207.7 yds/gm), as well as third (43.7%) and fourth down conversions (64.3%), ranking second in scoring offense (30.6 ppg), third in total offense (385.8 yds/gm) and first downs (21.2 per game), and fifth in passing offense (178.1 yds/gm). The Skyhawks offensive line has allowed the second-fewest sacks (18) in the NEC this fall. Satkowski has started 19 games over the past two seasons in the right tackle position.

Stonehill finished its inaugural Division I season with a 4-5 overall record, including 2-5 in the NEC. Of the Skyhawks’ five losses, three were by less than a score. Stonehill won nine NEC Prime Performer awards during the season, along with two-time NEC Offensive Player of the Week Corbett and two-time NEC Rookie of the Week quarterback Ashur Carraha who was also named to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List. Stonehill was recognized as the FedEx Ground National Team of the Week by StatsPerform following their 24-20 victory over Duquesne University in their NEC debut which was streamed live on ESPN3.
