Medgar Evers’ Mousa Sinera Breaks NCAA Division III Single-Game Rebound Record

BROOKLYN, NY (February 1, 2023) – Medgar Evers senior Mousa Sinera etched his name into the NCAA Division III Book of Records on January 31 against Hunter College, setting the NCAA single-game record. Division III for total number of rebounds.
Sinera, who entered Tuesday’s contest needing just 64 more rebounds to reach 1,000 for his career, took a giant step in doing so, snatching a Division III record 43 rebounds. The previous mark of 36 rebounds was shared by two people, including Clinton Montford, who as a member of Methodist accomplished the feat against Warren Wilson in 1989. The other student-athlete was Mark Veenstra, as he did for Calvin against Colorado. St. Pueblo in 1976.
Remarkably, Sinera came within 10 rebounds of the NCAA’s all-time record, which was set by Jim Roberts, when he snatched 53 boards for Sewanee against Lambuth in February 1958.
This season, Sinera is one of the best rebounders in the country. As of Feb. 1, the forward ranks No. 2 in total rebounds (285) and rebounds per game (13.1).
