MW Tennis Players of the Week – Feb. 1

History Links COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV’s Aaron Bailey was named Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Dusan Rsovac was named MW Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week.

Air Force’s Sydney Fitch won MW Female Tennis Player of the Week, while Boise State’s Lorelyz Marruffo received MW Female Tennis Player of the Week honors.

MAN TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
AARON BAILEY, UNLV
Junior, Las Vegas, Nevada/ UC Irvine Was 5-0 over the weekend, finished 4-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles. As the Rebels went 3-1 to start the season, beating New Mexico State, UC Riverside and Weber State, they defeated Lucas Labrunie of Hawaii, in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 in fourth place. Won in straight sets over Roko Stipetic of New Mexico State, 6-1, 6-3 in fourth place. Moving on to third place, defeated Matthew Yanuck of UC Riverside, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Downed Connor Kruger of Weber State, 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-7) in third place. Teamed with freshman Dusan Rsovac third in doubles for a 6-4 win over the Wildcats.

FIRST YEAR MEN’S TENNIS OF THE WEEK
DUSAN RSOVAC, UNLV
Brisbane, Australia Went 4-0 this week, finishing 3-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles. Downed Andy Hernandez of Hawaii, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 to fifth place for the Rebels. Defeat New Mexico State’s Yehor Opanasenko, in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 for fifth place. Won 2-1 over William Zulch, Weber State, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 for fourth place. Teamed 3rd-ranked junior Aaron Bailey in doubles for a 6-4 win over the Wildcats.

FEMALE TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SYDNEY FITCH, AIR FORCE
Senior, San Antonio, Texas/Laurel Springs School Undefeated in doubles and singles against Creighton and North Dakota, earning 6-1 and 6-3 wins for the Falcons, respectively. Won 4-0 in Vol #1 singles. Picked up a default win after leading 4-1 in her second set against Creighton’s Kate Krueger. Fought to a straight-set victory over North Dakota’s Sapir Sela, 7-5, 7-6.

WOMEN’S TENNIS FIRST YEAR OF THE WEEK
LORELYZ MARRUFO, BOISE STATE
Caracas, Venezuela Was 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles in the Broncos’ season-opening 3-0 win over Idaho State and Lewis-Clark State. Earned his first career singles win in second place over Lola O’Lideadha, Idaho State, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Earned a straight-set first-place win over Lewis-Clark State’s Vimbai Heidi Moyo, 6-0, 6-0. Downed the LCSC in first place in doubles with partner Nicole Discenza, 6-0.
