PepsiCo’s STARRY is set to partner with NBA, WNBA and G league as official soft drink

Starry, the new lime-flavored soda from PepsiCo, is the new official soft drink of the NBA, WNBA and NBA G League in North America, as well as the title partner of the 3-point contest of the NBA All- Star Weekend 2023. The new Starry 3-Point Contest will take place during State Farm NBA All-Star Saturday Night, as well as WNBA All-Star 2023, and will feature the new “STARRY Range” – the “ultimate range test” where entrants will be able to shoot two custom Wilson Starry basketballs worth 3 points from 6 feet behind the deepest part of the current 3-point line. Starry Senior Dir of Brand Marketing Michael Smith said the new soda “will bring a fresh perspective to the NBA, WNBA and NBA G League and help elevate the game’s most exciting moments.”

Starry replaces the PepsiCo Mtn Dew brand with the official soft drink designation. Pelicans F Zion Williamson, Bulls G Zach LaVine, Warriors G Klay Thompson and WNBA Las Vegas Aces F A’ja Wilson will promote the Starry partnership; all but Thompson have previously promoted Mtn Dew. PepsiCo has been an NBA sponsor since 2015.

To help showcase Starry, which officially launched in January, the brand will feature a new ad during NBA All-Star 2023. Starry will also participate in NBA Crossover, the weekend’s immersive fan event, which opens on Friday. February 17 with appearances by Williamson, Wilson, Jazz G Jordan Clarkson and others. At the event, fans can participate in the Shoot Your Shot Challenge where the brand is giving away $100,000 to fans in a 60-second 3-point contest and also try a sample soda in its regular or sugar-free flavors.
