Senior Bowl 2023 Day 2 news, notes, highlights

The second day of practices for the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl was underway in Mobile, Alabama, on Wednesday. With nine selections in the upcoming draft, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen was once again on hand to scout potential targets:

Additionally, Schoen took the time to speak to reporters, where he provided updates on negotiations with quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley:

Giants general manager Joe Schoen told reporters at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama that he had contract talks with RB Saquon Barkley representatives and expects to have more next week.

He also said he has not yet entered into discussions with representatives for QB Daniel Jones.

It’s no secret that the wide receiver position will be where Schoen and his team focus on come draft day. In Mobile, there was a plethora of pass-catchers that left a big impression. Michael Wilson shone on Day 2, continuing to build his draft stock and cementing his Breakout Player of the Week status so far:

Michigan State’s Jayden Reed also continued to impress scouts with plays like these:

Offensive linemen

Olusegun Oluwatimi put in a solid performance. A likely Day 3 pick after a terrific senior campaign at Michigan, Oluwatimi has excelled at mobile and could very well be a target for a Giants team looking for a center to anchor their offensive line for years to come. to come :

John Michael Schmitz also continued his tremendous performance. The former Minnesota Golden Gopher looks like a likely first-round pick and will likely serve as the Senior Bowl starter once practices are over:

Kyu Blue Kelly caught the eye of several scouts on Wednesday. Projected selection for Day 2, the Stanford cornerback looked ready for cover and could be a target for a Giants side looking to bolster their secondary this offseason:

Outside of North Dakota State, left guard Cody Mauch showed up in Mobile again, with devastating pancakes like this:

Isaiah Foskey also continued to shine, with the projected first round dominating the edge:
