iOS: the best apps for recording music during a concert

DXOMARK, a French company well known for its technological laboratory for analyzing the quality of the photo, the display, the battery and the audio of our electronic devices, had the rather unusual idea (but why not? ) to do a little study on the best mobile applications to use… to record music during a concert! 4 models went on the grill, the Apple iPhone 14, the Google Pixel 7 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, and the Xiaomi 12T. The results are quite surprising since after a long battery of analyzes of the timbre, the dynamics and the artefacts of each audio sequence recorded “live”, it turns out that these are indeed the native audio recording applications. which are the most effective, both on iOS and Android.
The ranking of the apps then differs, which is surprising to say the least because it is globally the same top 5, namely the native app, TikTok, Instagram Stories, Instagram Live and Facebook Live! It turns out that these apps don’t work quite the same depending on whether they’re running on iOS or Android. Thus, sound recording is less effective on Facebook Live iOS than on Facebook Live Android, on Instagram Live, the sound is recorded in mono on iOS while it is in stereo on Android. With TikTok it’s the opposite, the app is more efficient on iOS for “live” audio recordings. On the other hand, it is the perfect draw with the Instagramm Stories app. all the details of the study are here.
