With the first ice storm of the season hitting the Austin area, virtually every school district in central Texas has postponed football games this week.
Most coaches have postponed games from Tuesday to Thursday after juggling their schedules with stadium availability. In particular, the Austin School District has been forced into a creative schedule since all individual high schools except Anderson have no playable fields and must share facilities with the House Park District, Nelson Field , the Burger Center Athletic Complex and the Noack Athletic Complex. .
Lake Travis remains undefeated, preparing for showdown with Bowie
In Class 6A, Lake Travis is No. 2 in the latest Class 6A state poll by MaxPreps, Stony Point is No. 9, Round Rock has risen to No. 12, and Bowie is No. 17. … Round Rock (6-1-2, 3-0) moved to the top of the District table 25-6A after a five-game winning streak that includes a 4-0 win over Manor last Friday. … Westwood (5-3-1, 2-1), in his first season under former Navarro coach Chris Hellums, took third place in 25-6A with a 4-1 win over Vista Ridge. Senior Kawan Borba is off to a strong start to the season with four goals and five assists. … Lake Travis (9-0-1, 4-0) ended an explosive Anderson team 3-0 on Friday while Bowie (9-0-3, 3-0-1) battled for a 0-0 draw with Johnson. The two winning teams sit atop the 26-6A District table and meet on Wednesday.

Northeast, McCallum has a big game delayed
In Class 5A, Rouse moved up to No. 4 in the latest Class 5A poll, Georgetown is No. 7, Connally is No. 8 and Bastrop remains No. 21. .. Rouse (7-1-1, 1-0-1) picked up a big win in the 25-5A district last Friday with a 3-0 shutout of Liberty Hill. Brendan Fournier scored twice and Jake Loofs had the shutout in front of goal. … Northeast and McCallum remain on a collision course in 24-5A after the ice storm postponed the showdown from Tuesday to Thursday at Nelson Field. Northeast (6-2-1, 2-0) was led by Roger Amador, who scored five goals in two District appearances after his hat-trick in a 5-2 win over Travis on Saturday. … McCallum (3-2, 2-0) beat LBJ 4-1 behind two goals from Liam “Spidey” Plum. … In the Class 4A and lower state poll, Taylor’s is No. 23. In the TAPPS state poll, St. Michael’s is No. 11.

McNeil: A late penalty from Austin Amaya propelled the Mavs to a 2-1 win over 25-6A preseason favorite Vandegrift last Friday, and he displaced the surprising McNeil (5-3-3 overall) at 1-0-1 and second place in what looks like another close district race.
