Movie shoot in Frankfort attracts attention

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) – Kentucky served as the backdrop for a film directed by Ethan Hawke. “Wildcat” toured several cities around Bluegrass. This week, the production is in Frankfurt and the locals are delighted.

“As soon as I found out, I was like, ‘I have to be here,'” Lily House said.

She and a few friends tried to spot a star on Wednesday afternoon in the capital. Capital Avenue was closed all day for filming.

“I was really excited to see that there was a movie near and close to us,” said Avery Williams.

According to Variety, the film will star Ethan Hawke’s daughter, Maya Hawke, who rose to fame on Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” That was enough to get this group here to watch.

“It was really cool to see that there’s going to be a movie with Maya Hawke. I’ve seen her in a lot of things and I’m really happy to see that,” Williams said.

“I’ve been watching ‘Stranger Things’ for a really long time, so to know that a girl from that show is here is absolutely crazy,” House said.

A viewer who was at the Capitol building this afternoon caught video of an old bus driving around the Capitol with a police escort during filming. There were no signs of stars on Capital Avenue, but Ethan Hawke was spotted by all means. He visited a downtown restaurant on Tuesday evening.

“They’re both, like, great actors, like great actors. They’re both really, really famous,” Aubrey Whitis said.

People hoping to catch a glimpse of the production along Capital Avenue will have another chance. They will shoot again in the same area on Thursday.
