The teenager was in no pain and the ball was not affecting his bowel movements. An x-ray showed the golf ball was lodged in the boy’s sigmoid colon, making it difficult for doctors to remove. An intensive physical balloon removal procedure took place over two hours under general anesthesia. Despite trying various methods, such as a suction cup, medical net, four-prong clamp, and balloon catheter, the doctors were unsuccessful.
According to a Yahoo!News article, the doctors wrote in their medical report: “Given the family’s reluctance to undergo more aggressive intervention (eg, laparotomy) and in the absence of colonic obstruction, we We decided to try volumetric laxatives to make it easier for the golf ball to pass.” After careful consideration, the young boy was given almost a liter of laxative. The boy was able to get the ball out after three hours at the help of laxatives. The nightmare was finally over…both for the boy and for the doctors in charge!
