All you need to know about the Skills Competition

The NHL All-Star Skills Contest takes place on Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. ET. Both events will air on CBC, Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada, while ESPN and ABC will cover the weekend in the United States.
This year there will be a total of seven exhibition games with three new additions.
#1. Corporate NHL Brilliance
This is an outdoor event to be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It will feature eight players divided into four teams of two. Players will need to hit all targets before attempting to dunk their opponents, with the winner being whoever dunks their opponent first.
Sidney Crosby and Nathan McKinnon will participate in this event.
It should be added here that not only will Crosby team up with Alex Ovechkin in the trick shot competition, but he will take on the Dunk Tank challenge with Nathan MacKinnon. twitter.com/wyshynski/stat… Sidney Crosby (@penguins) and Alex Ovechkin (@Capitals) will compete TOGETHER in the NHL Breakaway Challenge (the trick shot competition) at the All-Star Skills competition on Friday night. 👀👀👀Should add here that not only will Crosby be teaming up with Alex Ovechkin in the trick shot competition, but he’ll be taking on the Dunk Tank challenge with Nathan MacKinnon. twitter.com/wyshynski/stat… #2. Chipotle NHL Pitch ‘n Puck
The second outdoor event of the day asks players to combine their hockey and golf skills. Six players will compete in a par 4 golf hole, with the winner being the one who drives the puck/ball into the hole (with the fewest strokes) using a combination of hockey and golf strokes.
The NHL All-Star Game in South Florida will feature two offsite skills competitions:
– Pitch ‘n Puck, a combination of hockey and golf shots that will take place on “an island green”.
– Splash Shot, which takes place on the beach in Fort Lauderdale.

Discover NHL Tendy Tandem
Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets is expected to attend this event. He and seven other goaltenders will work in tandem, one shooting and the other in net.
The goaltender will shoot a shot from the designated spot, scoring three points for a shot going into the hole, two if it hits the net, and zero if it misses the net. The goalkeeper in the net will face one, two or three players – depending on the points obtained by the shooting goalkeeper. Normal shootout rules apply and players continue shooting until all pucks have been shot.
#4. Upper Deck: NHL Fastest Skater
A minimum of four participants is required to complete a full lap of the rink. The two fastest times reach the final. The competition was won by Jordan Kyrou of the St. Louis Blues with a time of 13.55 seconds.
#5. GEICO NHL’s Hardest Kick
This event will feature some of the toughest hitters in the league trying to register the fastest shot. Players are allowed one run-up to the designated location. The shot must be on goal to be calculated.
This event was won by Victor Hedman with a 103.2 mph shot with the fastest shot ever at 108.8 by Zdeno Chara in 2012.
#6. Great Chips NHL Breakaway Challenge
Each participant will be entitled to a shot on goal and the judges will mark each shot between 1 and 10 points. Alex Pietranglo won the event last time with 64 points.
Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin are ready to participate in this event.

A total of eight participants, along with four setters, will be tasked with hitting four styrofoam targets placed in the corners of the net while receiving passes on either side of the net as quickly as possible. In the semi-final and final, participants will participate in a simultaneous 1v1 shootout, with the player hitting all targets being the first to be crowned champion.
Sebastian Aho won the event in 2022 with a time of 10.937 seconds.
The winner of each event receives $30,000.
