Insider believes the Oilers and Lightning might swing a deal

As the March 3 trade deadline approaches, NHL trade rumors continue to escalate across the league. In a recent article for Daily Faceoff, NHL insider Frank Seravalli circled struggling Edmonton Oilers forward Jesse Puljujarvi as a target for multiple teams over the next month.
All signs point to the end nearing Jesse Puljujarvi’s time with #Oilers.
Is there a team interested in trying to unlock the potential of the No. 4 pick of 2016? Or will he be a victim of the salary cap?

It’s perhaps unsurprising that Puljujarvi is moved by this deadline, as Edmonton general manager Ken Holland has sent a memo to each team stating the forward is available. However, there may be a surprising suitor for the former fourth draft pick.
While NHL trade rumors are a big part of every season, sometimes when there’s smoke, there’s fire. According to Seravalli, the Tampa Bay Lightning could become one of the best trade candidates for Puljujarvi.
The player failed to live up to the expectations placed on him after being selected by the Edmonton Oilers with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. However, a change of scenery could pay off big for the Swedish striker.
Tampa Bay could be the perfect fit for Jesse Pujujuarvi to rebuild his confidence and reach his full potential. Not only have the Bolts notoriously improved their last six forwards historically at the trade deadline, this isn’t the first time Pujujarvi has been linked to Tampa in NHL trade rumours. The team contacted the Oilers for a trade as early as 2019.

In 49 games with the Edmonton Oilers this season, Jesse Puljujarvi has four goals and six assists while contributing a -13 differential.
Other NHL trade rumors linked to the Tampa Bay Lightning
Besides Jesse Puljujarvi, the Tampa Bay Lightning have been one of the most frequently mentioned teams in NHL trade rumors as the trade deadline is only a month away. Another name linked to them is veteran Vancouver Canucks defenseman Luke Schenn.
Schenn, who helped Tampa Bay win back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021, could end up in Florida as he’s been linked to both the Lightning and the Boston Bruins. Home defense will be a cheap asset for the top teams in contention this trade deadline season.
