NHL Rumors: Islanders, Canucks, Flyers, Rangers, Devils, and Five Options in Net

Hits on the Islanders, Canucks, Flyers, Rangers and Devils
NHL.com’s Dan Rosen: (mailbag) If the New York Islanders don’t like where the contract talks with Bo Horvat are going and if they fail in the playoff race, they can trade him and get the assets back that they surrendered to him.
The Vancouver Canucks must do everything they can to extend Elias Pettersson.
There’s no indication that Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher is in trouble. They are missing two top-six forwards, Sean Couturier and Cam Atkinson, as well as defenseman Ryan Ellis. They should be looking to sell by the deadline. Pending UFA striker James van Riemsdyk and defender Justin Braun could be moved. If they’re looking to retool, they could look to move defenseman Ivan Provorov, forward Travis Konecny and goaltender Carter Hart into hockey contracts this offseason. They’re not really bad enough for a full rebuild.
It looks like any team that acquires San Jose Sharks winger Timo Meier wants to extend him. It’s hard to see how the New York Rangers could fit in an extension as they also need to re-sign West Germany forwards Filip Chytil and Alexis Lafrenière and defender K’Andre Miller. Rangers could also include any of the above in the deal. The New Jersey Devils seem to suit Meier.
Five options if you’re looking for a goalkeeper
Sportsnet’s Rory Boylen: Teams can look for extra depth in the net at the trade deadline. You never know if a goalie or two will get hurt before/during the playoffs.
The Carolina Hurricanes and Buffalo Sabers may want to keep their three goalies. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins could be looking for depth given their current situation.
Five goalkeepers who could be available and could have some impact.
Karel Vejmelka – Arizona Coyotes – Doesn’t have a strong team ahead of him, but is posting a .907 save percentage and a 3.19 GAA. He’s 26 and hit a $2.75 million cap for two years.
Joonas Korpisalo – Columbus Blue Jackets – Coming off of hip surgery for a $1.3 million deal. Has a .908 save percentage with an 8-9-3 record.
James Reimer – San Jose Sharks – UFA pending at a cap of $2.25 million. Ranked 80 out of 87 in MoneyPucks saved goal stats above expectations.
Cam Talbot – Ottawa Senators – On hold for UFA with a .905 save percentage. He has been out for a week due to injury.
Thatcher Demko – Vancouver Canucks – Has been out since Dec. 1 with a hip/leg injury and underwent minor knee surgery this offseason. The Canucks may not be looking to move him, but what if the right offer comes along?
