Men’s Tennis Welcomes Navy (Fri.), Hits Road For Penn State (Sun.)

PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team is gearing up for a pair of games this weekend with the US Naval Academy at home on Friday and Penn State on the road on Sunday.

Overview of Penn
The Quakers dropped ITA kickoff weekend games with #8 South Carolina and VCU last weekend. After falling to the Gamecocks on Saturday, Penn went point-for-point with VCU on Sunday before falling 4-3. With singles wins from seniors Kevin Zhu and Edoardo Graziani, as well as rookie Manfredi Graziani, Penn pushed the action to a win-win match, which VCU ultimately won in straight sets.
Overall, the Grazianis are 4-1 combined in singles, with the elder Graziani posting a 2-0 record in doubles with playing partner Kevin Zhu.
Navy Overview
The contenders are 3-3 in 2023, but all three of those wins have come at home. Navy’s three-game winning streak was snapped last weekend by Georgetown, 4-3.
Sasha Panyan held the No. 1 spots in singles and doubles for most of the doubles match season. He is 3-0 in singles and 4-0 in doubles with partner Luke Garner.
Additionally, Herrick Legaspi is 3-0 in doubles alongside Christian Pumpelly (2-0) and Nicholas Nguyen (1-0).
Overview of Penn State
The Nittany Lions looked dominant across the board as they started the season 4-0 in the spring, winning over 87% of their singles matches and 90% of their doubles matches.
Miko Eala and Ismail Saadi are each 4-0 in singles, with Charl Morgan registering at 3-0 playing at No. 1 and 2.
The No. 1 doubles team of Morgan and Malik Bhatnagar is 4-0, as is the No. 2 team of Loren Byers and Sam Bossen.
