Alabama A&M Football Adds 17 on National Signing Day

History Links Full Schedule 2023 Signed 2023 HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –Head coach Connell Maynor and staff on Wednesday announced 17 new additions to the 2023 iteration of the Alabama A&M football team, including a mix of FCS transfers, college transfers and high school prospects who will be added to the list.
Nine band members are currently enrolled in school for the semester after transferring from their respective programs and will participate in spring practice, including Dashawn Brown (York, SC), Jamarion Ellis (Eastman, Ga.), Jacolby Hewitt (Memphis, Tenn.), Jordan Mitchell (Beulaville, NC), Nikobe Myers (Walled Lake, Michigan), Shykeim Pace (Opa Locka, Florida), Brian Plummer (Gaithersburg, Maryland), Rayquan Williams (Memphis, Tennessee) and Tervae Williams (Guthrie, Okla.).
Fellow transfers Dustin Fletcher (Flint, Mich.) and Tony Overstreet (Mobile, Ala.) will be added over the summer, along with high school recruits Cory Chavis (Redford, Mich.), Khristian Cotton (Fayetteville, NC), Andre Emilus (Auburn, Ala.), Camren Lindsey (Orlando, Fla.), Jeremiah Shack (Jacksonville, Fla.), and Tyshawn Tate (Memphis, Tennessee), who will also enroll after this semester.
Brown and Mitchell come to A&M after playing at Appalachian State, with Mitchell appearing in 26 career games for the Mountaineers at linebacker, including a New Orleans Bowl appearance in 2018. Prior to his college career, he attended East Duplin High School . where he recorded 142 tackles (96 solos), 19 tackles for loss and eight sacks his senior.
Meanwhile, Brown has turned into a proper freshman after missing much of the shortened 2020 season. When fully healthy as a junior in 2019, the receiver caught seven touchdowns and scored a pair on kick returns. He was also named All Region III that year and was rated a three-star prospect in the Class of 2021.
A trio of quarterbacks have been added on this cycle, along with a pair of transfers and a real freshman. Davis was a starter for two years at Redford Union High School, where he earned numerous accolades such as First Team All-State and All-Region twice after passing for a combined 4,246 yards and 44 touchdowns in his two years at the helm.
Fletcher will also compete at quarterback, having come from northern Illinois. The 6’3 gunslinger was a four-year starter at Carman-Ainsworth High School, where he set numerous passing records, throwing for over 7,000 yards and 59 touchdowns with nearly 2,000 rushing yards in his career.
The third quarterback added was Brian Plummer, another dual threat at the position who was traded from Buffalo. Plummer went 25-2 as a starter at Quince Orchard High School and won a state championship in Maryland as a sophomore.
Also adding to the offense will be Jacolby Hewitt of Cordova, Tennessee. Hewitt arrives with a combined 28-game college experience after three years at Indiana and one year at Florida International and was an All-State selection out of high school in 2017.
Real freshmen Jeremiah Shack and Tyshawn Tate will also add depth on the outside at receiver and tight end respectively, along with Khristian Cotton and Camren Lindsey, who will both come in to add immediate depth. in the trenches on the offensive line.
Jamarion Ellis will help in the linebacker spot going forward, after playing five games for Georgia State last season. The transfer began his preparatory career at Dodge County High School before moving to IMG Academy in Florida for his junior and senior years.
Tervae Williams was another addition to the defensive front seven, hailing from northeast Oklahoma, along with Mobile’s Tony Overstreet, who transfers from LA Pierce College after playing last season. The latest added linebacker also has college experience at Shykeim Pace, who joins the program after beginning his career at Florida International.
The Bulldogs have added several players to their secondary, highlighted by Rayquan Williams, a transfer from Oregon. The Memphis native earned second-team All-State honors as a senior while playing basketball during his prep career.
Alongside Williams is Andre Emilus, a 6-2 corner who attended high school at Auburn, helping them set a 12-2 record in 2022 and Michigan State transfer Nikobe Myers, who was ranked as one of Michigan’s Top 75 Players in the Class of 2019.
