Past
Vandersloot, a 5-foot-8 guard, was the face of Sky after more than a decade with the franchise. She’s started every game for the past two seasons, playing a vital role as Chicago won the 2021 championship.
Vandersloot was an unrestricted free agent last offseason but opted to re-sign with Sky on a one-year deal. Vandersloot earned $195,000 last season.
Guard Allie Quigley, Vandersloot’s wife, will also not return to the skies next season, according to multiple reports. The three-time All-Star is out for the season but is not expected to retire.
Screening report
The veteran has started as a point guard in 92% of Chicago’s games since the 2011 season. Vandersloot has the best five seasons in WNBA history in assists per game (during the regular season), setting the record for the league at 10 assists per game in 2020. In the 2021 season, she was instrumental in Chicago’s title race, delivering 8.6 assists per game.
Over the past six seasons, she’s become the WNBA’s most consistent and dependable point guard, tearing defenses apart with her stamina and ability to attack the paint. —Jennings
