Men’s Tennis Back Home, Host East Tennessee State and Illinois State

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — The Arkansas men’s tennis team returns home to Billingsley Tennis Center for the weekend for a pair of matches. The Razorbacks (6-1) will face the ETSU Buccaneers (0-5) on Friday, February 3 at 5:30 p.m. CT and the Illinois State Redbirds (3-3) for a doubleheader on Sunday, February 5 at 11 a.m. CT and 3 p.m. CT .

Last weekend, the Razorbacks shared two games during ITA Kickoff Weekend on the University of Michigan campus. In Game 1, Arkansas fell to No. 24 Northwestern but grabbed a 4-1 over Cal Poly to end the weekend on a high. Junior Melvin Manuel leads the team on a five-game winning streak, going 5-0 to start the dual season.

The Buccaneers arrive in Fayetteville after a 6-1 loss to Air Force and a 4-3 fall to Abilene Christian. ETSU had singles victories in the lower end of their roster against Abilene Christian, with victories on courts four, five and six. Dimitri Badra leads the team with a win at No. 1 and in doubles, Peter Kolocsai and Thiago Pernas lead with a 3-0 record and 2-0 at No. 2.

The Redbirds started their season 3-0 with wins over UIC, IUPUI and Chicago State, but then suffered three straight losses to Ball State, Butler and Illinois to move to 3-3. Illinois State will travel to Fort Smith to take on Arkansas-Fort Smith before making the trip to Fayetteville. In sixth position, Tim Ostro leads the team with a 3-0 record and was the Redbirds’ only point in their game against Illinois.
